Halloween is right around the corner! At Eastern Virginia Orthodontics, we want all of our patients to enjoy the holidays without letting braces stand in the way of having fun. Our patients are well educated on what they can’t eat with braces, but can they still enjoy Halloween and all the sugary sweets that go along with it? Absolutely! Braces Friendly Halloween Treats

The following Halloween candy and treats are completely safe to eat with braces:

  • Pixie Stix
  • Sweet Tarts
  • Candy corn
  • Solid Chocolate (white, milk, or dark)
  • Hershey’s Chocolate bars
  • 3 Musketeers
  • Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
  • Nut-free M&Ms
  • Junior Mints
  • Cotton candy
  • Soft cookies
  • Cakes

Halloween Candy To Avoid

While there are many sweet treats you can enjoy during orthodontic treatment, there are some definite treats that should be avoided. Here’s a list of Halloween candy you can’t eat with braces:

  • Caramels
  • Lollipops
  • Caramel
  • Skittles
  • Jelly beans
  • Tootsie Rolls
  • Jawbreakers
  • Lemon Drops
  • Gum
  • Any candy with nuts
  • Other hard candies

Remember, the last thing you want is to damage your braces due to a moment of enjoying a sweet snack.
