To All of our Wonderful Patients and Family Members,

Change is a part of life. It can be unsettling, but it also can be exciting as it creates opportunities.

It is with mixed emotions that I am announcing my retirement effective at the end of the year. It has been said: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I have been involved in orthodontics for over 40 years and enjoyed it immensely; it has been most interesting, stimulating, challenging, and fun. I can honestly say that with very few exceptions, I looked forward to going to the office every day. It has been my great fortune to be in a profession that enabled me to develop wonderful relationships with numerous patients and coworkers and at the same time be a part of a process that routinely made significant positive contributions to the dental health, esthetics, and self-esteem of our patients. This has been rewarding and satisfying beyond measure. I have been blessed.

However, there is a time for everything. This is the season for me to pass the baton. As most already know, Dr. Ross Savage has recently joined our practice and has been working with Dr. Peluso and me. Dr. Savage will become the primary orthodontic care provider at our Norfolk office. Dr. Peluso will continue primarily at our Chesapeake and Virginia Beach locations. The seamless continuation of care for my patients is very important to me; I am extremely happy and most comfortable with this transition. Dr. Savage is very bright, well trained, and has a passion for orthodontics similar to mine. I am confident that all will find him to be kind, considerate, an exceedingly competent. Drs. Peluso and Savage will work together with the EVO team to continue to deliver the highest quality of orthodontic care to our patients.

I will greatly miss all of this, but at the same time I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life and the many adventures it will bring.

In closing, to all who have passed through this orthodontic practice, I so greatly appreciate what a most meaningful contribution you have made to the quality of my life.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you!

Walker W. Shivar, D.D.S.
